Ladygrove was planned around open space. Ladygrove Park and Lakes, Ladygrove woods and a skate park are all on the estate, and the Ladygrove Loop is a signed walking, cycling and fitness route with two outdoor exercise stations, six acres of wildflower meadows and two natural play areas. Didcot Town Football Club plays at Loop Meadow Stadium on the estate, the town centre, with the Orchard Centre and the Cornerstone arts centre, is a short trip away, and Ladygrove has been ranked highly for healthy life expectancy.
Construction began in the late 1980s and much of the estate was built through the 1990s. The original target was completion by 2001, but plans for the final section east of Abingdon Road were only announced in 2006, and the development was planned to double the number of homes in Didcot. Housing is almost entirely modern, from terraced and semi-detached houses to larger detached family homes. Ladygrove Park Primary School was rated Good by Ofsted in December 2023, All Saints' Church of England Primary School is another of the town's primaries, and Didcot Girls' School and St Birinus School share a mixed sixth form.
Didcot Parkway is just north of the town centre, with the fastest trains to London Paddington taking around 36 minutes, trains roughly every 15 minutes, and frequent services to Oxford, Reading and the west. By road, the A4130 and the A34 give quick access to Oxford, about 15 miles north, Abingdon and the M4. Didcot is also the gateway to Science Vale, which includes the Milton Park, Culham and Harwell campuses, so many residents work locally.
