ACHIEVING NET ZERO BY 2030
In January 2022, we committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 or sooner and partnered with Carbon Footprint Ltd to help us calculate the carbon footprint of Jones Robinson as a business. By September 2022, we had achieved Net Zero status for our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, supporting three worldwide projects to offset our 2021 carbon emissions.
Since then, we’ve continued to focus on reducing our own emissions year on year, while taking responsibility for those that remain. Our 2023 and 2024 assessments show continued progress, with our carbon footprint per employee reducing for the second year running. Across the two years, it fell by 15.4% – the lowest figure we’ve recorded since we began measuring our footprint in 2021.
Alongside reducing our emissions, we continue to support carbon reduction projects to offset those that remain, while working towards our goal of net zero by 2030 or sooner.
- In Indonesia, the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve, protecting vital rainforest and safeguarding habitat for the endangered Bornean orangutan
- ‘Guanaré’ Forest Plantations project, In Uruguay, transforming former cattle-grazing land into new forest
- In India, a solar power project across Tamil Nadu and Telangana, generating clean and renewable electricity for the national grid
- In Southern Ethiopia, a Community Protected Springs project, repairing boreholes and helping provide local communities with access to safe drinking water
- The Russas Project, in Brazil, helping protect tropical forest from deforestation and preserve vital ecosystems
