Jones Robinson Charity Swim: 34 Miles for Local Causes

On Wednesday 18th June, the Jones Robinson team took on a significant challenge: swimming the full 34-mile distance between our Newbury and Devizes offices along the Kennet and Avon Canal — the equivalent of 2,735 pool lengths — in a single day.

The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of David Lloyd Newbury, who kindly provided access to their outdoor pool. On a hot summer’s day, with temperatures reaching 26°C, our team came together to exceed expectations and show real commitment to a great cause.

By the end of the day, we had gone beyond our original target and completed 3,114 lengths, which is just over 38.7 miles. Several team members swam more than 200 lengths individually!

“It was a fantastic day!” said Charlie Jones, Sales Manager at Newbury. “We couldn’t be prouder of the team, not just for the distance they swam, but for the energy, determination, and commitment they brought to supporting these incredible charities.”

Supporting Local Charities

This swim was in support of five local charities, each of which plays a vital role in our communities:

Julia’s House (Devizes) and Naomi House & Jacksplace (Winchester) – Both providing care and support for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions.
Newbury Cancer Care – Supporting individuals and families through the emotional and practical challenges of cancer.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance – Delivering critical emergency medical response by air and road across the region.
Play2Give (Oxfordshire) – Offering support, therapy, and play for children and families facing illness or hardship.
