JR Rounders Event Raises £1,250 for The Rosemary Appeal
Masses of sportsmanship, tons of camaraderie and a healthy dash of local rivalry ensured that the inaugural Jones Robinson rounders charity event on 2nd August was a complete success! The sporting tournament was our latest activity as corporate sponsors of The Rosemary Appeal – a fundraising initiative set up to raise money for a new cancer and dialysis care centre at the West Berkshire Community Hospital.
“We enjoy being part of the Newbury community so much that we decided to combine our local working relationships with our ongoing drive to raise money for The Rosemary Appeal,” comments Charles Robinson, a Partner at Jones Robinson. “Our rounders event added £1,250 to the fundraising pot and I think we have created a brilliant community event in the process – one we have been asked to repeat again next year and look forward to hosting again!”
Laura Davenport and Chloe Morey at Jones Robinson were the event’s chief organisers, bringing together the Newbury business community, with teams, supporters, home bakers and volunteers gathering at St Bartholomew’s School, who graciously let us use their magnificent facilities.
On the day we welcomed teams fielded by local companies including Barclays Bank, First Xtra, Gardner Leader, Horsey Lightly Solicitors, Maxx Design and the Newbury Building Society, along with our own team. After some superb batting, bowling and fielding displays, the victors were Maxx Design, with Gardner Leader as runners up.
