The great moving milestone: Change in lifestyle
We are now at the end of our great moving milestone blog series and the final area we would like to cover is lifestyle change. Although last on our list, a lifestyle change is one of the biggest reasons people approach Jones Robinson. The catalyst to move can be age, health, financial or family related, and sometimes buying, selling or renting is the key to a new future.
For many people we help, starting a family is the biggest lifestyle change they will ever make. Many sellers come to us with a flat or apartment they’d like to sell and with intentions of buying a house with more bedrooms and a garden. The Newbury and West Berkshire environs are perfect for family life, with good schools, open countryside on the doorstep and a wealth of family-orientated facilities nearby.
At the other end of the spectrum, Jones Robinson also helps a number of downsizers whose children have fled the nest. These sellers often come from within West Berkshire but we are increasingly helping buyers from outside of the county who are looking to settle in a semi-rural but well connected location. We are usually able to offer such buyers a selection of low-maintenance new build apartments, as well as ground-floor flats, retirement properties and bungalows.
Other buyers come to Jones Robinson for a specific type of property – whether that’s a dwelling with land they can build on, stables for horses, a workshop where they can run a business or a home with extension potential for those thinking of self-managing a development project.
Charles Robinson, a Director at the estate agency, says a lifestyle change often revolves around a property swap: “In the past we have helped buyers who want to cut their commute to work, so we have found them a property closer to their workplace. Others ask for a slice of rural Berkshire charm in exchange for city life, and many of our clients relocate to West Berkshire from London. These buyers often find their budget buys them far more property, and they are able to afford that dream home, maybe with an Aga, period features and views of rolling fields. West Berkshire is crammed full of pretty villages, making it a desirable county for buyers looking for a more bucolic, community-based setting. All our staff can advise buyers and sellers looking to move with lifestyle in mind.”
Jones Robinson is working with buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants across West Berkshire, so if you have a property you would like valued; are looking for that dream home or are thinking about a buy-to-let investment, contact us today.
