Community is at the Heart of Our Business

News at Jones Robinson | 25/04/2022

Supporting charities and our local community has been a vital part of the Jones Robinson ethos since our beginnings in 1998. Over the last twenty years and more we have supported a number of charities through a series of increasingly ambitious and successful fundraising events. Who could forget Charles cycling from our Newbury office to our Devizes office and back in a single day back in 2020! Especially given that he was riding along the Kennet and Avon canal and it poured down with rain for the entire day!

Whilst the whole team is incredibly proud of what Charlies achieved (this event alone raised over £6,000!), we absolutely missed group fundraising. From holding cake sales, virtual horse racing nights or taking it in turns to undertake a 24-hour ride on a static exercise bike - we’ve done it all! Fundraising as a company is a great way to not just raise money for brilliant causes, but also bonds us as a team and helps us achieve goals that may seem impossible at first!

That’s why we are thrilled to say that our team fundraising is back with a vengeance in 2022!

We will be working as a team to raise money for 3 incredible local charities across Berkshire, Hampshire and Wiltshire - Julia’s House, Naomi House & Jacksplace and Newbury Cancer Care.

Julia's House is a Children's Hospice in Dorset and Wiltshire that provides practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Naomi House & Jacksplace provide hospice care to more than 550 life-limited and life-threatened children, young adults and families from central southern England. Newbury Cancer Care works with Clinical Nurse Specialists, medical professionals and the Day Hospice to help people in the West Berkshire community who have been diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.

All three charities are incredibly deserving of our support. The difference they make to our local community and those they support is truly astonishing and we are incredibly proud to be linked to all three organisations.

But what are we doing and more importantly, how can you help?

We kicked off our fundraising early this year by adding our Christmas Jumper Day donations in December and have several events planned for 2022. However, our biggest event this year is participating in the Three Peaks Challenge on 11-12 June. 12 of our staff have bravely agreed to take part in and are busy training together in their spare time. The event will see them attempt to complete climbs on Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours. This will no doubt be physically and emotionally challenging but the team is very excited to be taking part and will receive help and guidance from our organiser Simon Lewis of SVL Adventures, who come recommended by Naomi House.

Fundraising is underway and you can donate HERE by visiting our Just Giving page. The last few years have been incredibly challenging for local charities and the truth is your donations have never meant so much to us. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated by the whole team. They aren’t just climbing one mountain - they’re climbing three! But it will all be worth it if we raise lots of money!

Connor Phillips, Fundraising Officer for Naomi House, commented, “We have been so grateful to Jones Robinson for selecting Naomi House & Jacksplace as one of their charity partners this year. The team have got some really exciting plans to raise some vital funds for our services, including 12 members of staff taking on the Three Peaks Challenge. They are aiming to raise an incredible £12,000 for their charity partners, which for our hospices means that we can continue to be there for our families when they need us most. The Jones Robinson team is an absolute pleasure to work with and we are so excited to see what 2022 brings!”

And Jo Common, Fundraiser at Julia’s House added, “We have loved getting to know the team at Jones Robinson, as they are so passionate about supporting our cause.  We are thrilled to welcome them on board as a member of the Wiltshire Business Club 200 – which is a wonderful way of businesses being able to show their ongoing commitment to the charity.  They also have several other fundraisers on-the-go – including our collection cans, which are regularly filled to the brim from donations, in return for their fabulous branded jute bags – perfect for a day shopping in Devizes. So on behalf of Julia’s House I would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the team at Jones Robinson for their wonderful support – helping us be there for the growing number of children and families who depend on our care.
"I wish the team taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge in June the very best of luck.  I’ll keep my fingers crossed for sunshine and I'm looking forward to seeing all the photos!”
